KHAN, WHO has starred in over 50 Bollywood movies, described his likeness as “absolutely fantastic” and joked: “It has thicker hair and is more muscular than me.”
Salman Khan was sized and photographed in Mumbai for the $400,000 wax replica, which took five artists 12 weeks to create.
I am really very touched that my fans have chosen me to appear in Madame Tussauds, and hope that the figure brings a lot of enjoyment to Bollywood followers the world over.”
He was one of the first Bollywood stars to stress on fitness and a muscular body form. The wax replica at Madame Tussauds has reportedly done justice to Salman’s six pack abs and bulging biceps.
Salman donated a set of clothes and a bracelet that his father gave him for the wax replica. Khan was picked from a field of ten Bollywood stars in a poll conducted over the summer by the British Asian entertainment magazine Ikonz and the BBC Asian Network.
Salman’s wax figure joins other Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman’s ex girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan. Said Khan: “Very few Indians have the privilege and it feels good to be a part of it. We have Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya, Shah Rukh and I think I am the third most deserving in the museum.”
He added: “I am really very touched that my fans have chosen me to appear in Madame Tussauds, and hope that the figure brings a lot of enjoyment to Bollywood followers the world over.”
Salman emerged the clear winner from over 10,000 votes that were cast to have a wax model made of him at the famous museum. He beat Madhuri Dixit, Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan.
