Young volunteers wanted to “youth proof” charity websites

VOLUNTEERING ENGLAND (VE) is looking for hundreds of 16-25 year-olds to be part of a groundbreaking virtual volunteering project that will help over 20 national and international charities “youth proof” their websites.

On 26th February, volunteers will log on to participating charities’ websites and provide constructive feedback on whether the website is easy to navigate, uses accessible language and presents the right image to attract young people. Charities that have already signed up for the project include VSO, the Choose Action Network and a number of Volunteer Centres.

The way people interact with websites is constantly evolving and charities that know how to capture young people’s attention have the edge in fundraising, recruiting volunteers and gaining awareness and support. ”

The event will take place during national Student Volunteering Week, which promotes and celebrates the involvement of students in their local communities and runs from 25th February to 2nd March.

Clare Davies, Student Volunteering Development officer at VE, said:
“The way people interact with websites is constantly evolving and charities that know how to capture young people’s attention have the edge in fundraising, recruiting volunteers and gaining awareness and support. I’d encourage any student or young person who has some spare time on 26th February to sign up and be part of a unique project that will help good causes benefit from their enthusiasm for user-friendly technology.”

Volunteers wishing to sign up for the project should call or email:
